Cadences

A cadence is formed by two chords at the end of a phrase of music.

They can be divided into two different types:

Cadences that make the music sound complete (Perfect and Plagal).

Cadences that make the music sound incomplete (imperfect and Interrupted).

What is a cadence?

Cadences that sound complete or finished...

Perfect cadence. Chords V - I

Plagal cadence. Chords IV - I

Cadences that sound incomplete or unfinished...

Imperfect cadence.  Any chord  - V

Interupted cadence. Chords V - vi
