Creative Task Survival Guide - Rhythm:

2 bars of 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, or 6/8 .

1/ Check with the teacher that you can play the rhythm. The teacher will play the rhythm to you. Make sure you understand the time signature. Play the rhythm a few times emphasising the first beat in the bar.

2/ Start with playing the rhythm as it is written. Don't repeat it too many times at the start. You can change the order of the rhythm later in your composition or just use part of the rhythm for a contrasting section - but avoid whole sections using completely different rhythmic ideas.

3/ Develop Your Musical Ideas Organise a clear structure to your composition with clear four bar phrases. Don't just repeat the same section twice without adding some variation. Does you composition show a contrast in... Timbres (drum & percussion sounds) Dynamics, Tempo & Articulation?
